Am Donnerstag, den 05. Februar 2015 spricht Jürgen Engel an der Harvard Graduate School of Design über die Chinesische Nationalbibliothek in Peking, China. Der Vortrag wird im Rahmen der Ausstellung "Icons of Knowledge" stattfinden, bei der ein Modell der Chinesischen Nationalbibliothek in Peking zu sehen sein wird.
Die Kuratoren beschreiben die Ausstellung wie folgt: "Icons of Knowledge, an architectural research exhibition by Daniel Rauchwerger and Noam Dvir, looks at the history and evolution of national library buildings. Through original models, murals, and drawings, the exhibition traces national libraries to their origins in 15th century Europe and until today. Studying the crossroads between symbolism and program, this is a visual examination of how nations seek to be read. The exhibition will open together with the on-campus premier of, a documentary film that portrays Harvard Depository, one of the largest book and document depositories in the world. Directed by Cristoforo Magliozzi and produced by Jeffrey Schnapp, Matthew Battles, and the MetaLAB team in Harvard University, the film's screening will include an introduction and conversation with Jeffrey Schnapp, as well as a screening of Alain Resnais's 1957 documentary short.
